Currently, there is ongoing discussion regarding the shape of the Earth, whether it is flat or spherical. However, this debate should be considered secondary and distinct from the primary issue, similar to a supplementary bet placed alongside a main wager.

The principal debate in the flat Earth versus globe Earth discourse concerns which celestial body orbits another. According to scientific consensus, the Earth circles around the Sun, while the Moon circles around the Earth. The accuracy of these assertions remains a topic for verification: Is there documented evidence that provides complete certainty?

What Does the Bible Say About This?

Joshua Chapter 10 recounts a great battle between the children of Israel, under Joshua’s leadership, and their enemies in the land of Cannan. Preceding this great battle, God had already destroyed many of the enemies of Israel by casting down great hailstones from heaven. In fact, more of the enemies of Israel died from being crushed by hailstones, than died by the hands of Joshua and his army.

In this chapter, we are also told that God caused the Sun to stand still above the city of Gibean, and that God also caused the Moon to stand still in the valley of Ajalon.

Joshua 10:12-14

12 Then spake Joshua to the Lord in the day when the Lord delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon.

13 And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day.

14 And there was no day like that before it or after it, that the Lord hearkened unto the voice of a man: for the Lord fought for Israel.

Joshua prayed that the Sun and Moon would stand still, and God caused the Sun and Moon to stand still. Since God caused the Sun and Moon to stand still and did not cause the Earth to stand still, then the actions of God portray a Sun and Moon that are always in movement around a stationary Earth.

The Bible Speaks of a Stationary Earth

The Bible explicitly states that the earth is firmly established and cannot be moved. This Biblical proof appears in Psalm 93:1, Psalm 96:10, Psalm 104:5 and 1 Chronicles 16:30.

Psalm 93:1 The Lord reigneth, he is clothed with majesty; the Lord is clothed with strength, wherewith he hath girded himself: the world also is stablished, that it cannot be moved.

Psalm 96:10 Say among the heathen that the Lord reigneth: the world also shall be established that it shall not be moved: he shall judge the people righteously.

Psalm 104:5 You who laid the foundations of the earth, so that it should not be moved forever.

I Chronicles 16:30 Fear before him, all the earth: the world also shall be stable, that it be not moved.

Who Do You Believe?

Scientists tell us that the Earth circles around the Sun and that the Moon circles around the Earth. However, the Bible verses of Joshua 10:12-14 lead us to understand that not only does the Moon circle the Earth, but the Sun circles the Earth as well.

God has given us even more Biblical proof that our Earth is stationary in Psalm 93:1, Psalm 96:10, Psalm 104:5 and 1 Chronicles 16:30.

As we can see, the question as to the form and structure of this Earth, be it round, flat, or square, is not the primary issue in this matter, but a secondary issue. To even get to a secondary issue, the primary issue must first be answered.

Romans 3:4 contains the phrase, “let God be true, and every man a liar.” Now the question is—is God’s word truthful in every way? If so, then the answer is truly clear: scientists are wrong as to their belief that the Earth circles the Sun.
