Each of us will choose to be a child of God or we will choose to be a child of Satan. This is a binary choice, as there are only two options. If we choose not to be a child of God, then by default we make the choice to be a child of Satan.

Children Of God

In all of Paul’s 13 epistles he is speaking to believers. These believers believed in the gospel of the grace of God found in I Corinthians 15:1-4. Paul tells us in Galatians 3:26-27 that we are children of God by our faith in Christ Jesus. Paul tells us that we put on Christ when we are baptized into Christ.

Galatians 3:26-27

26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

Paul tells us in I Corinthians 12:13 that the Holy Spirit baptizes us into the body of Christ.

I Corinthians 12:13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

In Colossians 3:3 we are told that as children of God, we are hid with Christ in God

Colossians 3:3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.

In Colossians 3:3 being dead means we are dead with Christ, and that we being dead with Christ, will also live with Christ as seen in II Timothy 2:11.

II Timothy 2:11 It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him.

In this present age we are saved by believing the gospel of the grace of God, which is recorded in I Corinthians 15:1-4. In Ephesians 3:2 Paul tells us that he was given the dispensation of the grace of God. In Acts 20:24 Paul tells us that Jesus Christ gave him the ministry to testify of the gospel of the grace of God.

Children Of Satan

In Ephesians 2:2-3 Paul tells the Ephesians who they were and what they did before they were saved by their belief of the gospel. Paul tells them that they walked according to the course of this world, according to Satan who is the prince who rules in the air, and rules in those who do not believe. Paul tells them that they once conducted themselves in the lust of the flesh, fulfilling their desires of the flesh and they were by their nature children of wrath, just as the other unbelievers.

Ephesians 2:2-3

2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

We Control Our Eternal Destiny

In Ephesians 2:2-3 we are told of the sinful nature of children of Satan. However, that does not have to be our life on this earth if we choose to become children of God.

God is rich in mercy and He has great love for each and every one of us. In Ephesians 2:4-10 we are told of God’s love for us and our future as children of God when we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior through our faith and belief of the gospel of the grace of God.

Ephesians 2:4-10

4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us,

5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),

6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,

7 that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,

9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.

10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
