Paul tells us in his epistle (letter) to the Philippians, that we are to worship God “in the spirit” and have no confidence in the flesh.

Philippians 3:3 For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.

In the above verse, Paul tells us that we are “the circumcision,” which worship God in the Spirit.” The term “the circumcision” refers to Colossians 2:11-13.

Colossians 2:11-13

11 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:

12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.

13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses.

Above, in verse 11 Paul tells us that Christ has (without hands) circumcised (cut away) our “sins of the flesh.”

In verse 12 Paul tells us that our “resurrection in Christ” had already happened. Our eternal life is experienced in the Spirit, at the exact moment that we were saved. Likewise, eternal life will be experienced by our mortal body at the time of translation to our predestined (image of Christ) body (Romans 8:29).

In verse 13 Paul tells us that we were dead in our “sins of the flesh.” However, Christ has quickened together (made us alive) with him, having forgiven us all of our trespasses (sins).

We also see in Romans 12:1 that we are to present “our bodies” as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto God. This is to be our “spiritual service of worship.”

Romans 12:1 Therefore I urge you, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.

Our gospel is the gospel of the grace of God. It is the gospel of the death, burial and resurrection. With our gospel, we are saved at the exact moment of our belief that Jesus Christ died for our sins, was buried and rose on the third day.

I Corinthians 15:1-4

1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;

2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.

3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.
