Many would have us believe that we live in a post-truth world where objective facts take a backseat to our own personal beliefs, and where “our truth” takes precedent over “the truth.”

Christ Is The Way, The Truth and The Life

In John 14:6 Christ says – “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” Sadly, there are many souls in this world who do not believe these words of Jesus Christ. Even within what is collectively called Christendom there is not a clear consensus on what one must do to be saved and inherit eternal life.

When it relates to our salvation, do we want the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth? Or, are we content to accept some, or most of the truth? Have we been conditioned to accept some truth but not “the truth” in regards to our eternal salvation?

On this website, I repeatedly write about and share three great Bible passages that relate to our salvation. These passages are I Corinthians 15:1-4, II Timothy 2:15 and Ephesians 1:13-14.

In these verses, our Apostle Paul tells us that we are saved by believing the gospel – I Corinthians 15:1-4. We learn that we must righty divide the word of truth – II Timothy 2:15. We learn that the word of truth is the gospel of our salvation and that we are sealed by the Holy Spirit until we are redeemed, when we hear and believe the gospel of our salvation – Ephesians 1:13-14.

However…

In the book of Galatians we see that there were those that were denying the truthfulness of what is written in the verses listed above. In the book of Galatians, we see that there were those that did not rightly divide the word of truth. These men were combining doctrine taught in the gospel of the kingdom with the doctrines of the gospel of the grace of God and attempted to have the Galatians believe that they must do works (keeping the law of Moses) in order to obtain salvation.

Not Much Has Changed In 2000 Years

Nope, not much has changed in 2000 years. In the book of Galatians, we can clearly see that men were perverting the gospel of the grace of God in the days of our Apostle Paul. Paul said to let these men be accursed. These men were not rightly dividing the word of truth as they combined the gospel of the kingdom with the gospel of the grace of God, and therefore combined works with grace.

Mankind has had 2000 years to get it right, and start rightly dividing the word of truth, yet today men still combine doctrines of the Law of Moses with the gospel of the grace of God. They still combine the gospel of the kingdom with the gospel of the grace of God and create their own false gospels and false plans of salvation. These men are not following the commandment to rightly divide the word of truth, and are therefore rejecting the truth of the gospel.

The Truth Does Matter

The truth matters to those who want to spend eternity in heaven with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Thankfully, we can know the truth when we rightly divide the word of truth. Thankfully, we have our Apostle Paul to teach us of the gospel of the grace of God and its promises for us. Thankfully, we do not have to just accept some truth regarding our salvation, but we can know “the truth,” of our salvation.

Listed below are verses that give us knowledge of our salvation and also confidence in our salvation.

I Corinthians 15:1-4

1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;

2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.

3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.

II Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Ephesians 1:13-14

13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise,

14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

Question

After reading I Corinthians 15:1-4, II Timothy 2:15, and Ephesians 1:13-14, do you have confidence in your eternal salvation?
