In the New Testament, there are two gospels recorded and each gospel has its own separate and distinct plan of salvation. The two gospels recorded in the New Testament are (1) the gospel of the kingdom and (2) the gospel of the grace of God.
The Gospel Of The Kingdom
The requirement for salvation through the gospel of the kingdom was by belief in Jesus as their Lord and Messiah. They believed that Jesus was the Son of God and would establish His earthly kingdom and be their King.
John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.
John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
John 20:31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.
The Gospel Of The Grace Of God
Salvation under the gospel of the grace of God requires one to believe in “what Jesus accomplished.” One has to believe that Jesus Christ died for our sins, that He was buried and that He was raised again on the third day. We are told this in I Corinthians 15:1-4.
I Corinthians 15:1-4
1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.
Have We Been Blinded?
God tells us in II Corinthians 4:3-4 that Satan has blinded the minds of those that do not believe the gospel, and as a result they are lost. However, we do not have to be lost if we can clearly see and believe the gospel of Christ.
I Corinthians 4:3-4
3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:
4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
Many readers of the Bible have been confused, as many have believed that the New Testament contains only one gospel. The misconception that the New Testament contains only one gospel has caused confusion for too many people for far too long.
Question
Has Satan blinded us by combining the two separate gospels of the New Testament into one gospel, therefore making his own counterfeit gospel(s)?
When men combine the two gospels of the New Testament, it creates a “combo gospel.” Belief of these “combo gospels” has caused many among us to believe false gospels that cannot save and can only destroy. It has caused some to believe in what is called replacement theology, and cause others to believe in what is called covenant theology.
Replacement Theology
Replacement theology teaches that the church has replaced Israel in God’s plan. Believers of replacement theology believe the Jews are no longer God’s chosen people. They believe that God does not have any future plans for the nation of Israel.
Covenant Theology
Covenant theology teaches that the church is an expansion of Israel. They teach that the church is the beneficiary of the New Covenant, which they say started with Christ’s blood shed at the crucifixion. They believe that the New Covenant was instituted at the Lord’s Supper and refer to Luke 20:20 for their proof.
Luke 22:20 Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.
The above verse is from the King James Bible. It correctly says New Testament and not New Covenant. A covenant requires the agreement of two parties, and a “last will and testament” requires on the consent of only one party.
The New Covenant
In Hebrews 8:8-13 we are told of the future New Covenant that God will make with the house of Israel. These verses are referring to the future Millennial Kingdom.
Hebrews 8:8-13
8 For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:
9 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.
10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:
11 And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.
12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.
13 In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.
Question
Can we see that replacement theology is wrong because God will not replace Israel, but that He will make the New Covenant with Israel? Can we now see that the New Covenant is for the house of Israel and not for churches today?
Believe The Gospel Of Our Salvation
Our Apostle Paul tells us in II Timothy 2:15 to rightly divide the word of truth. The word of truth is the gospel of our salvation as seen in Ephesians 1:13-14.
II Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Ephesians 1:13-14
13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
Please do not let Satan blind you to the truth. Please “rightly divide the word of truth,” and be saved by believing the gospel of our salvation. The gospel of our salvation is the gospel of the grace of God.
